Trappers Enroute to the Rendezvous

Unlike the artist Karl Bodmer, who accompanied Prince Maximilian of Wied Neu-Wied on a trip up the Missouri River in 1833 – 1834, Miller kept his field sketches and worked from them for the rest of his career. This 1850 oil painting is based on the sketch (CR# 200) now in the Joslyn Art Museum in Omaha, Nebraska.
