Given the placement of the buffalo skull in the foreground and the profile of the precipitous snow-covered peaks beyond, this appears to be a study for the oil, Snake and Sioux Indians on Warpath (CR# 379B). Miller’s deft draftsmanship and spirited pen and ink work capture all the excitement of the scene with the most simple but economic means.
